“You cannot settle for second-best,” as stated by Morten Lauridsen.

Morten Lauridsen was the composer-in-residence of the Los Angeles Master Chorale from 1995–2001. He influenced a generation of students as the professor of composition at the USC Thornton School of Music for more than forty years. With an almost mystical handle of music and a confident and diverse range of music, he continually makes an impact on music and music education today. USC is celebrating Lauridsen through a series of videos, available on Youtube.

The school of music at USC was the oldest school, founded in 1880. It continues to flourish. People are always talking about what is happening at USC. And as Lauridsen says, it is because of the leadership and the educators offering their minds to the campus.
